Leelanau County In-Home Assistance for Seniors
The Leelanau County Commission on Aging offers programs designed to assist senior citizens live independently in their homes, including:
Homemaker Program: provides qualified workers who help with routine household tasks to maintain a clean and healthy environment for older individuals with functional limitations.
Outdoor Chore Program: designed to provide senior citizens assistance in paying for Outdoor Chore services (lawn maintenance, snow removal & window cleaning).
Senior Companion Program: a national adult volunteer program in which seniors help other seniors maintain independent living. Volunteers visit assigned special friends on a weekly schedule providing one-to-one companionship and practical assistance.
Personal Care: provision of in-home assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) for an individual including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring, toileting, and ambulation. Personal care does not include any other health oriented services as specified for Home Health Aide Services.
Respite Care: provisions of companionship, supervision and/or assistance with activities of daily living for clients that must require continual supervision in order to live in their own homes or the home of a primary caregiver. Clients may have difficulty performing or be unable to perform activities of daily living (ADL) without assistance.
