Leelanau County Home Rehabilitation

The Planning & Community Development office works with loan programs through Rural Development and MSHDA to coordinate home improvement loans for county homeowners. Homeowners must meet income guidelines and the homes must be the primary residence of the applicants. The information provided on the application is verified through credit reports, employment checks and bank verifications. All information is kept confidential. Interest rates range from 0% to 3% based on household income and program guidelines.


Application Process:

Needed repairs include roof repair or replacement, new windows-doors, new siding, water wells, septic systems, plumbing and electrical upgrade, heat systems,  energy improvements, (insulation OK if not eligible for the NWCAA Weatherization programs) flooring repair or replacement,  kitchen and bath improvements and other improvements. All non-emergency homes funded will meet HUD Section 8 Housing Quality Standards and other local codes or ordinances as may be required by the work specifications. Application can be made online or at the Leelanau County Planning and Community Development office. Applicants will need to provide information on employment, income, and household/family membership.
